Love is the Light, Scaring Darkness Away

Dress: Topshop | Shoes: New Look
So Christmas is officially over, but for all of you Christmas lovers out there, don't worry! It's only twelve months until we can can do it all again! I love having some time off work, where I can where what I want, and trust me, I make the most of it! I bought this dress in the Topshop sales, which are already in full swing, and it's not even January yet! It's completely flattering, and being black, it's a pretty staple piece for any time of year. To keep in tune with the black, simple theme, I opted for my favourite canvas brogues from New Look, very cheap and cheerful, and one of the most comfortable pair of shoes I own.

I'm off to plan my outfit for New Year now, can you believe it's only 2 days away!?

Potential Christmas Day Outfits

The Smart Option

Top: Primark | Skirt: Topshop | Heels: Next | Necklace: Matalan | Jacket: H&M | Lipstick: Maybelline Colour Sensational Vivid's in Pink Punch
Everyone needs a smart option for the big day. I opted for this beautiful burgundy top from Primark, and paired it with a plain black skater skirt from Topshop. The simplicity makes the outfit looks sophisticated, with the skater skirt hiding any unwanted food babies! Over the top I opted for my comfy black jacket from H&M to keep the simple but elegant theme.

The Dressy Option

Dress: Primark | Heels: Next | Lipstick: Tarte Glamazon in Fierce
Who doesn't love tartan for this festive season? This tartan dress from Primark is a great dress that looks like you have put in a lot of effort into your outfit, when in reality, you've probably just rolled out of bed into it! Maybe more of a dress for the morning whilst you're unwrapping your presents though, as beautiful as it is, this dress won't hide your food baby!

The Casual & Comfy Option

Jumper: Topshop | Jeans: Primark | Boots: Primark | Bowler Hat: H&M | Lipstick: Mac Lipstick in Syrup
Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without a Christmas jumper option now would it? For a comfortable & casual outfit on Christmas Day, a Christmas jumper I the obvious answer. The one I've chosen this year is the cutest red jumper from Topshop, covered in gingerbread men. It's the most comfortable jumper I own, making it fit perfectly into my 'comfortable category'! I paired it simply with my high waisted black jeans, making it an easy and casual outfit!

Toby's Christmas Outfit

Had to include few a pictures of Toby's Christmas Outfit, featuring his amazing Christmas pudding jumper and hat, both courtesy of Primark!

Have an amazing Christmas, I hope Santa brings you everything you want, and your day is filled with happiness!

OPI Nail Envy | Nail Strengthener

OPI Nail Envy: £18.65

So unfortunately, I've never been blessed with beautiful strong nails. I've read about Nail Envy so many times online, and about the miracles it works, so I just knew I had to at least give it a go.
For just under £20 you get a 15ml bottle, which for me, is the most I have ever spent on a nail polish or nail treatment, hence why I was so reluctant to try this product. However my nails weren't getting any stronger, and although my bank account definitely wasn't getting any richer I knew I had to bite the bullet and make the purchase.

The instructions that come with the product say; "To strengthen natural nails, apply two coats of OPI Nail Envy, followed by one coat every other day". I followed these tips for about a week, before becoming too conscious of how my unpainted nails looked, and needed to splash them with a bit of colour!

The results? Nail Envy definitely did make my nails stronger, and they did look healthier after just one week. Although my nails are still far from being in 'good condition', Nail Envy did what it said on the bottle (which it should for that price!) and if I had persevered a bit more, I would have seen the miracles it can perform. Is it worth the money? I guess that depends on how much you want good, strong nails. It works, so in that instance, yes! However it is a lot of money and I know there are alternatives out there, albeit, you won't get the same results.

Let me know if you try this product, would love to know your opinions!

ecoTOOLS Fresh and Flawless | Five Piece Complexion Set

I am always on the look out for new high quality brushes that don't cost the earth. Then, whilst perusing the counters of Boots, (big mistake) I came across this little set. Not only are they the prettiest brushes on my dresser, but they're not bad quality either.

There's five brushes in the set, a flat concealer brush, a buffing concealer brush, a precision foundation brush, a complexion blending brush and a full powder brush. These five brushes all help to create a 'flawless base', all of them having their individual job to do, making this the perfect set for a beginner, or a christmas gift!

I will definitely be investing in more ecoTOOLS brushes, they're a lovely quality for a great price!

Little Nell | Handmade Jewellery Loveliness

I was scrolling through my instagram a couple of weeks ago, when I saw a post from Penny - the creativity behind 'Little Nell', a beautiful online jewellery shop, selling 'handmade jewellery & lovliness'. I hadn't really ventured onto the site before, but when I saw there was 25% off of a beautiful pair of earrings I couldn't resist!

The total came to £5.25, which is super cheap for a pair of gorgeous, good quality earrings! My items arrived in a sweet organic cotton drawstring bag, with Little Nell printed on the front, giving the whole service a personal and professional feel!

I would definitely purchase from Little Nell again, you can browse their products here, or follow Penny on Twitter here!

I'm off out to model my earrings and embrace the colder weather now!

Colours Of: Autumn | Amber & Berry

Without a doubt Autumn is my favourite time of year. Not only does it bring back layers (& therefore fluffy jumpers...) but it also brings back my favourite make-up colours, amber and dark red/berry shades.
I thought I would share a few of my favourite products that I was so excited to get more use out of now that the months are getting colder - I mean, who doesn't like to match their make-up to the season?!

1 - Clinique Chubby Stick in Ample Amber | 2 - LO'real Infallible Eyeshadow in Amber | 3 - Nyx Blush in Terracotta | 4 - Body Shop Colour Crush  Eyeshadow in 'Melt My Heart' | 5 - Kate Moss for Rimmel London Lipstick in Wine | 6 - 24 Hour Colour Tattoo in Pomegranate
All of these products are of an excellent quality & I would highly recommend all of them! They are all great for every day wear (except the wine Lipstick if you work!) and definite staples in my Autumn makeup collection.

Do you have any products you like to keep special for autumn?

Hedgehog Feet

How could I not blog about these adorable slippers from Primark?! I found these babies when I was shopping a few weeks ago, and when I walked past them I could not leave them on the shelf. Not only were there hedgehogs, but a few other animals too! Trust me, it took all of my will power not to buy them all...

Not a lot else to say, besides these are the comfiest slippers I have ever had the privileged to own, although my dog hates them.

Let me know if you pick up these £5 (yes £5!) beauties or what animal you choose!

What's On My Face #3

I was umming and ahhing as to whether I should put this post up, as the make-up I wore was super simple, but after I looked back at the photos, I really liked the look the simplicity created, so here it is!

For ever day, I rarely wear a full face of make-up, so this really is my go-to everyday make-up look. Just 6 products to brighten up my face and keep me from looking so blank. I really enjoy wearing and applying make-up but on a regular day I just don't have time to sit in front of a mirror for half an hour, so a quick 10 minute make-up trick is the way to go for me!

Hope you enjoyed this half boring post, my next 'What's On My Face' will definitely be a slightly more intriguing look! Any products you want to see in action?

Manicure Must Haves...

I've got to admit, I am really bad at painting my nails, and I would find that however much I spent on a nail polish they would always chip after just a couple days! Enter my new manicure routine that so far, has not let me down.

Who enjoys removing old nail polish? I highly doubt anyone does! Then in walks the Bourjois Magic Polish Remover, and all my prior hatred towards nail polish remover flies out of the window. The fuss of multiple cotton buds and spilling the product everywhere (please say that's not just me!) is gone, and what's more, this fuss free product also leaves my nails feeling nourished and clean as opposed to weak and brittle. This is one step in my nail routine I can't see changing any time soon, and considering this beauty is a mere £5, there are no reasons for it to change!

After cutting, filing & shaping, in comes the base coat. Until a few months ago I had never been loyal to a base coat. My nails have always been pretty weak, and so I had problems growing them without them splitting. Until I found the CND Sticky Base Coat that is. This product has been a miracle for not making my nails feel worse, which I found a lot of base coats did. And the name is pretty fitting, nail varnish will quite literally stick to this coat, making it a whole lot easier to get an even finish of colour. Although this product is pretty blue in the bottle, the colour doesn't transfer to the nails, so even if you're using a white polish, this will still work for you.

Finally, if you've been living under a rock recently, you may not have heard of the Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat. This product is famous for making nail colour last incredibly well, and I honestly wouldn't even consider painting my nails without it now. For nail polish that would only last 3 days, it now lasts at least a week. Amazing. But the goodness doesn't stop there - 'Dry Fast' is a complete under-exaggeration. You can quite happily forget about your wet nails within a minute whilst using this, and I would usually have to sit quite still for a good half an hour, no matter how fast my top coat claimed to be!

So that's it, three products in my nail routine that will always be a must have!

Sorry about the lack of posts recently, let me know if there is anything you want to see from me!

When Oceans Rise, My Soul Will Rest In Your Embrace

Dress: Primark | Leather Jacket: H&M | Shoes: Next | Necklace: H&M | Nail Polish: Red Black by Barry M | Lips: Almay Liquid Lip Balm in Apricot Pucker
So here in the UK I think it's fair to say it's getting a little bit chilly. and wet. And although it's not freezing cold, I am definitely embracing layers!

I have received so many this on this dress, which, considering it cost me all of £8, I was so pleased about! Good old Primark. It's so easy to wear, as it goes with tights and a jacket, but it would be really easy to style in the summer too with some brown ankle boots!

Fairly minimal on the makeup, Wet n Wild Comfort Palette on the eyes, and the Almay Liquid Lip Balm on the lips! I painted my nails with Barry M's Black Red, because I thought it went so well with this dress and is my favourite autumn shade!

Buxom Lip Cream | Review

As Essie Button says, this product gives you 'porn star' lips, but I wouldn't necessarily say that that was a bad thing! It's a creamy formula meaning that it's not sticky like your typical lip gloss, but it does give a shiny finish such as a gloss would. This product makes your lips tingle, and that's probably an under exaggeration. I personally love that feeling, but I know it might not appeal to everyone, so before you part with $14.99 on this product, make sure you don't mind the tingly feeling!

This product really plumps up your lips, giving that full 'pout' look, and not only does it actually help to moisturise your lips, it is also full of Vitamins A and E keeping your lips protected & supple!

I love this product, and it is going to be stuck on my lips for the next week or so!

Nars Sheer Glow Foundation | Review

This foundation is the best foundation I have ever used. Yes, it is the most expensive foundation I own but it is also the foundation that has actually made people comment on the look of my skin; something that has never ever happened to me before!

Although it's name says 'sheer', the coverage is actually pretty high. I had the impression by it's name that this was going to be a low coverage base for just concealer and powder, but this product is great for evening out skin tones and covering blemishes. This product makes my skin look dewy with a perfect finish, and even though I have oily/combination skin, this product doesn't slide or move and it doesn't highlight my oily or dry areas.

The only down side to this product is the packaging. Although when you first buy it the packaging looks classy and neat, it doesn't stay this way. For one, this product doesn't come with a pump, making it hard to get the right amount of product out. This also means that the lid (that dirt seems to love to stick to) gets dirty very quickly. However the product inside the packaging makes up for this, and it is a product I will repurchase again and again.

You can buy Nars Sheer Glow here for £30.50 - let me know your thoughts!

Christmas Come Early

On September 8th I woke up to Christmas come early! I'd won my first ever giveaway! It was run Essie Button on this video, and it was full of American and Sephora goodies that are difficult to get hold of in the UK!

In this post, I thought I'd go over a few of the bits included, and give you a heads up on what will be reviewed and featured on my blog over the next few weeks!

Was so excited to receive these products, considering they are not usually something I can afford it's lovely to be able to try them out!
So thank you SO much to Estee! She is my favourite youtuber and blogger ever, she is so funny so make sure you go and have a look at her you tube channel & blog!

Have you tried any of these products?

Maybelline Baby Lips | Review

L-R: Cherry Me, Intense Care, Peach Kiss, Pink Punch. Buy them here.
I have known about the hype for these 'babies' pretty much since 2013 began, and so when I was in the USA in March they were the first things I rushed to get! I bought Peach Kiss and Cherry me, and despite the million other lip products I brought with me, these are all I wore for the entire trip! After returning to UK I wished I'd bought more colours or 'flavours' if you like, so I was pretty excited when they were released into Boots and I immediately went out and bought more!

Cherry Me has a sheer red finish, giving your lips a bit of colour whilst keeping them hydrated & soft. It smells like cherries, surprise surprise and I love wearing this on an everyday basis just for a subtle bit of colour!

Intense Care has a very subtle tropical scent, but to be honest, it's so subtle I wouldn't have noticed it if I hadn't made a point of smelling the product for the purpose of this post. It's a clear balm, making your lips slightly shiny, without changing the colour of your lips. It nourishes the lips, and the packaging makes it really easy to apply and carry around in your make up bag.

Peach Kiss is my favourite from the range. The scent is gorgeous, a sweet, subtle peach scent, and the balm gives your lips a shimmery nude finish, again as well as nourishing and moisturising your lips.

Pink Punch has a less shiny and more apparent finish to the lips. Again, it is hydrating, giving your lips a bit of colour without being too dramatic. I love how this makes my lips feel and the colour pay off is really great for a lip balm!

All of these balms are very moisturising, claiming to keep your lips hydrated for up to eight hours! The packaging is great, bright colours making it perfect for spring and summer, and for brightening up the winter! All of the Baby Lips range are a great addition to any make up bag, and won't make a dent in your bank account! They are available in Boots and Superdrug for £2.99, and are often on a 3 for 2 offer!

What do you think of the Baby Lips? Are they worth the hype?

Summers End | OOTD

Dress: ASOS | Bowler Hat: H&M | Cut Out Boots: Primark

My favourite time of year is here again, and I don't think I'm the only one who loves the transition from summer to autumn, from sandals to boots, and dresses to jumpers. Today was one of those days where you wake up, look out of the window and decide it is going to be a beautiful day - but I still opted for some trusty boots. Just in case.
This dress is amazing for all year round. The print is really versatile, and looks great with tights or sandals! I love smock dresses in general. I think they're really flattering on my curvy body shape, and hide all the bits you don't want on show; (love handles, I'm looking at you!)
I love the look of the hat and the boots with this dress, it fits the monochrome trend perfectly. These boots are great dupes for the Jeffrey Campbell cut out boots, from Primark at only £18 I think they're great. Even dupes for the Topshop Arabel 2 Cut Out Boots at under half the price.

What's your favourite thing about Autumn? Do you love this time of year too?!

Lots of love,

Nailed It | Monday Manicure

I'm completely honest, nails is one thing I am really bad at. I simply do not have the patience to sit still and wait for my nails to dry! However, if I do know that I'm going to be sitting still for at least an hour, then I love to make my brittle nails look a tad prettier. In this post, I am going to be taking you through my top six favs for painting my nails.

The Rimmel Salon Pro Nail Polishes are great for a simple manicure. The thick brush aids neat application with one stroke! I find two coats make the colour nice and bold, but you could definitely get away with the one coat. The shade pictured is Soul Session, which is a great nude that makes your hands look really tanned!
To start with, I wasn't a huge fan of Essie Nail Polishes. However, since they changed up their brush, I really love how these polishes go on the nails. The finish is great, but you definitely need two coats, and a decent top coat because I've found these polishes will chip after two or three days. The colour pictured is Bikini So Teeny, which is a perfect pastel blue shade.
I cannot sing Barry M Gelly Nail Paints praises enough. In fact, I adore all of Barry M's nail polishes, and if I could only wear one brand of nail polish for the rest of my life, it would be Barry M. The Gelly polishes go on beautifully, and you only need one coat to create a flawless finish, and these polishes last ages - honestly at least a week. This shade pictured is Pomegranate which is a gorgeous hot pink colour.
Next up is the Sinful Colour Nail Polishes which I picked up in Boots for about £1.99. For the price, these polishes are pretty great, although you do need a couple coats to keep the colour intensity up. The colour range is great, and paired with a good top coat, these polishes aren't bad at all! The shade pictured is Mint Apple, which satisfies pastel green obsession for my nails. It also has a subtle glitter running through it, which is lovely - although it does make it hard to come off!
As if the Ciate Nail Polishes haven't been raved about enough, but I am totally going to jump on this bandwagon. I wouldn't usually spend over £5 on a nail polish, but after receiving this polish in my Glossy Box, it's hardly been off my nails! Definitely worth the money and the hype.
Finally, I've been loving this Angelica Nail Polish that you can buy from Primark. They're roughly £2.50 and I would definitely repurchase because for something from Primark, they're pretty impressive. You only need one coat to create a pigmented finish, and it lasts longer than my Essie Polishes! The colour pictured is Calypso which is a great greeny turquoise colour that is perfect for summer!

My Top Tips For An At Home Manicure

1. Paint your right hand first (or left hand if you're left handed!) This means you're not worried about smudging your left hand as you attempt to paint your right - which I find the hardest to paint!

2. Wait until you know you have time to paint your nails, leaving time for them to dry as well. Rushing your nails is a recipe for disaster!

3. Make sure you file and buff your nails before applying colour. This means you have a good base on which to apply any paint.

4. Make sure you have a decent base and top coat! If you're not sure which one to use, tune in on Thursday, where I'm posting all about it!

Hope you enjoyed this post! What colour do you have on your nails today?

Biore Ultra Deep Cleansing Pore Strips | Review

I have never used anything from the Biore Range before these nose strips, so this is not in any way a review for the brand as a whole. I purchased these 'nose strips' from Superdrug whilst they were on sale for £5 (usually they are £7.99) because I seriously needed to find a way to clear up the blackheads on my nose. Disgusting I know, but what do you expect from a post relating to nose strips! I had heard good things about the brand, but as I mentioned, had never tried anything from their range before, so decided to add them to my basket and before I knew it, the postman brought them to my house ready for me to try.

The strips came with easy to follow instructions which made the whole 'nose strip' process (which is new to me, I'll admit) surprisingly easy. You first wet your nose, I just wetted a flannel and held it on my nose for a while, and (obviously) after removing the plastic, just placed it on my nose, sticky/smooth side down. One thing I will say, I get the feeling I placed mine a little to high, because the strip was a little too close to the thin skin under your eye for comfort, so bear this in mind when applying yours!

I then spent a happy ten minutes watching some of my favourite youtubers...wonderfulyou, lily mel rose & fleurdeforce to name a few... and then came the most exciting moment of it all; the peel.

I'm not quite sure what I was expecting when I peeled it off, but something I was not expecting, is that it was actually a little bit painful. To be fair, this could be due to me placing it too high, or just not being careful enough, but I put on my bravest face and peeled off the strip. Now I don't mean to make anyone feel queasy, but I could literally see the blackheads being pulled out of my skin. No pain no gain has never been truer. The results were brilliant! The strip was not the prettiest beauty product I've owned once I'd finished with it, but the skin around my nose looked so much clearer. Not only has it helped my appearance, but this product has been great for keeping my oily tendencies at bay!

Would I purchase again?
Definitely. This is not a product I will be using on a daily basis, but yes I will definitely be repurchasing! You can buy them here from Superdrug.

Hope this was useful for some of you, let me know what you think of nose strips!
